Happy NewYear!

Another year has passed, and a new year is just around the corner.
I want to wish everyone a great, happy, festive, healthy and fun new year. May all your hopes and dreams come true!

To my uncle: happy birthday!!!!

2010 was another year filled with firsts, but also, just with happy and sad things.
  • my sisterinlaws gallblatter had to be removed
  • Merlijn got a xbox 360
  • We went to the Elf Fantasy Fair, Castlefest, Whiskeytasting
  • my godfather and his wife turned 120 together
  • I got a second job nearby
  • I renewed my driverslicense
  • me and hubs were married for 2 years
  • my old work, where my mom still used to work burned down
  • I had another allergic reaction in my face
  • Which resulted in me, going to work high on meds(which was fun, weird, akward all at once)
  • I had a concussion, which gave me probs for almost 2 months
  • We went to see Cirque du Soleil
  • I had my first blog anniversary
  • I missed dads and grandmas birthday...again
  • I got a renewal on my contract for my second job
  • We had a day of christmas allllll to ourselves
  • We went to see lots of movies: Percy Jackson, Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, New Kids Turbo, etc
  • And lots of other things...

I hope to have lots of other fun stuff this year, with hopefully lots of surprises in store.

I want to thank my family for understanding that I can't always be with them when I want to, hopefully I'll see more of you in 2011. To our friends, thank you for being there when we need you. To Sanne and Mark, congratulations on the new pregnancy, I'm really happy for you guys(But i'm still not going to babysit! :p)

To my lexlings, thank you -so much- for another year of awesome posts, of hysterious laughter, of hope, sadness and love.  For all the endless conversations about books, men, love, kids, movies, and life in general.
Let's dream some more about the Lexlingmeet, and who knows?
I'm so gratefull to have met you all, life would be so boring without you.
Congratulations Megan on your engagement, and Lyndsay good luck with all the preparations for your wedding. I know you'll both be gorgeous brides.

To Barabara, for not forgetting about me, when you were living in exciting London, and I'll see you soon! *bounces*

To everyone in my life, from collegues to people on twitter, to readers of my blog: thank you for being there, life would be very different without you and I hope 2011 will be a year with even more fun than this one had!

And ofcourse, thank you Sidney, for having lived through another year with me. I know I can be an ass sometimes, and get on your nerves, and I love you for letting me do it all ( to you :P). There's noone I can be more myself with, and noone I can have more fun with. I love waking up next to you in the morning, and see you come home at night. I love how you always are the gentleman and even come pick me up at work at night. I don't know what I did to deserve you, but it must be something big and awesome. Thank you for being there for me always, for understanding me and my little quirks and for supporting me in everything that I do. I could go on and on, but I'd probably bore my readers to death or they might need a barfbag.
So let's just say, thank you for being in my life and making it worth living. I love you.

The first day of christmas

I tend to wear green of red on christmas, it just feels... appropiate?
Anyway, since I'm a sucker for red, this year I went for a black-red combination.

I'm wearing a red haltertop with black velvet tattoo print. I really love it, except that the fabric is really thick, which makes it wrinkle around me. It's from the same collection as the little black dress I wore to christmas last year ;)
Then I have a black suede pencilskirt, which is a bit hiked up here, trust me it's longer.
Some black leggings with black lace stockings on top, which you can;t see on the pic unfortunately.
A black knitted bolero, my favourite black pumps with bands around my ankle, and some red flowers in my hair.

I decided on christmas morning what to do with my makeup...a bit last minute, hahaha.

I opted for gold...lots of gold. I can tell you that I've used around 7 different colours of gold, and lots of different brands.

There's some Mac, Sugarpill, Barry M, Gosh, Sleek and Hema in there.

I used false lashes by Fingr's, which I really liked btw.

And ofcourse, I used my Chanel lipstick, for the first time....more on that later!

Ofcourse we also made pics of use on this holiday, so prepare for picturespam :P

walking to my inlaws

We made a very sad snowman on our way.

Trying out my new cam, panorama option

just us
being silly

walking home at night.

'Twas the day before christmas...

....and I had to go to work. Hahahaha. I did put on a simple little black dress, so that I didn't have to change after work and still was comfortable enough to go my job.

I kept my makeup fairly simple, with just a touch of sparkle.

I used some everyday minerals on my face, and a bordeaux coloured Lipfinity.

I'm really bubbly in the morning...NOT!

cute pastry my boss got me for lunch :)

Having dinner in the local snackbar
This is where the migraine started kicking in...so  took off the headband

The christmas tree with all the presents

We have this tradition to have breakfast at 12 o clock at night on christmas eve and give eachother little presents. I got really cute cameo earrings and lingerie giftcards.

Daan playing Sidneys game of honking somenes nose.

BTW, sorry for not posting on monday and tuesday, but I really needed some rest :)

Merry christmas everyone!

I want to wish everyone a very merry christmas, joy to the world and all that stuff!
Don't eat to much, think about the people in the world who are less fortunate than you and don't drink and drive!

I'll leave you with one of my favourite blogs ever: a special christmas blog

I just love her drawings, especially when she does the manga eyes on her main character.

If you havent read this blog before, please do. It always makes me snort, giggle or laugh out loud......or all of the above, hahaha. And since this one is about christmas, I just had to share. Go and read it!

NOTD: Christmas Nails

I wanted to try out my christmas Konad imageplate, but I couldn't find the time. Now, when I have to work evenings, I could finally do an NOTD with them. I played with them and a little brush, so they have become somewhat artistic, lol.

As a base I used a golden polish by Etos, which I can't find anywhere when I'm writing this.

I used special polishes by Konad: white, red, green and black. I also used silver, but this one didn't show well on gold, so I used a brish to go over it with black.

I really like the candy cane, too bad the black looks so harsh on the christmas tree, it was silver at first, but that didn't really show.

This is how the images look when you use just one colour.

Can it get any more christmas-y? That's a word! Well, it is now!

DIY: Pink Champagne Hangover Facial Mask

If you were caught dancing on tables last night... This one's for you!
Hair of the Dawg anyone??? LOL.

What You'll Need:

  • A Bowl
  • Measuring Spoons
  • A Spoon to Mix
  • A Washcloth
  • A Sink
  • 2 oz. (basically, a shot glass full) of Calcium Bentonite (Aztec Secret or any other kind) Clay Powder
  • 1 oz. (1/2 shot glass) of Champagne, Organic perhaps?
  • 1 oz. (1/2 shot glass) of Half & Half, Heavy Cream, preferably Organic. You can also use Milk or Plain Yogurt- but you may have to increase or decrease the Champagne / Clay depending on the thickness (the higher the fat content, the better)
  • 5 Drops Lavender Essential Oil (or any oil you have on hand)
Instructions:

  1. Combine Clay & Champagne into a small bowl and mix first.
  2. Next, combine all other ingredients with the Clay & Champagne.
  3. Wash your face with cleanser to remove any makeup.
  4. Apply a thick, even layer of the Facial Mask onto your skin (avoiding your eyes) and relax for about 15-20 minutes.
  5. Lay a warm, wet washcloth over your face for a minute or so to loosen the mask, then gently wipe it off.
  6. Rinse your face with warm water to remove any excess and pat dry.
  7. I like to apply a little Organic EVOO after- but you can apply any natural moisturizer.
Why It's Good For You:

BENTONITE CLAY: a detox aid that acts like a magnet pulling toxins out of you body through your pores. relieves symptoms associated with toxin build up, soothes acne and other skin conditions and contains approximately 67 trace minerals.

CHAMPAGNE: contains polyphenols- acts as a toner, contains Tartaric Acid- which lightens your skin and prevents pigmentation, and certain types of beneficial phenolic compounds including tyrosol and caffeic acid. The fizz from the carbon dioxide also helps constrict and close pores, making the skin tight, leaving it firm and glowing radiantly.

CREAM or YOGURT: is also a gentle cleanser, has anti fungal and antibacterial qualities, is useful for unclogging blocked pores. It also brightens the skin and contains naturally occurring alpha-hydroxy acid from lactic acid that exfoliates and renews the cellular surface of the skin.

LAVENDER: has the ability to remove nervous tension, relieve pain, increases blood circulation, digestion and induces rest. An excellent remedy for swelling and headaches. It  also has antiseptic and anti- fungal properties. It is used to treat various skin disorders such as acne, wrinkles, psoriasis, and other inflammations. It heals wounds, cuts, burns, and sunburns rapidly as it aids in the formation of scar tissues.

Cheers Party Girls!
Here's to 2011... HAPPY NEW YEAR!
xoxo

DIY: Peppermint Hot Chocolate Milk Bath

YUM! Sinfully Sweet & Healthy!!

What You'll Need:
  • A Blender
  • Anywhere from 2 cups to a Gallon of Organic Whole Milk (I like a lot of Milk...).
  • 1/2 Cup Natural Unsweetened Cocoa Powder, preferably Organic.
  • 2 Tbsps. of  Organic Honey (Regular or Raw).
  • 1/4 Cup of Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castile Soap (don't put this in the blender- just add to the bath when running the tap). Or, you could drop in a few Mint Tea Bags instead of soap.
  • A cup of Hot Chocolate for you to sip so you don't consider drinking the bathwater :)
Instructions:
  1. Combine all the ingredients (except the Castile Soap, or you'll have a Jacuzzi in your Kitchen) into your blender.
  2. Pour the contents of blender into the tub while the tap is running.
  3. Add The Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap to the tub while the tap is running.
  4. Don't forget your cup of Hot Chocolate!
Why it's good for you:

MILK or CREAM: has anti fungal and antibacterial qualities, so it is useful for cleansing and unclogging blocked pores. It also brightens the skin and contains naturally occurring alpha-hydroxy acid from lactic acid that gently moisturizes, exfoliates and renews the cellular surface of the skin.

DARK CHOCOLATE: smooths wrinkles, is a skin softener, and contains fatty acids and powerful anti-oxident properties which  help to absorb skin-damaging free radicals.

HONEY: is awesome for acne, high in vitamin C, a variety of B vitamins such as niacin, riboflavin, and pantothenic acid, as well as minerals such as potassium. It also contains powerful antioxidants which fight free radicals and reverse aging, it's rich in amino acids, the basic building blocks of life- softening and dissolving dead skin cells and nourishing to new skin cells. Bees release glucose enzymes when they create honey that is a natural antiseptic and has antibacterial properties. When applied topically, it draws body fluids and nutrients to the area assisting in cell growth and scar prevention.

MINT: is a natural astringent, helps loosen dead skin cells, and unclog your pores. It refreshes the senses, soothes and & calms dry, itchy, infected or inflamed skin. It also contains vitamin A which helps to strengthen skin tissue and reduce oily skin.

If you told me you'd never thought about bathing in chocolate... I'd NEVER believe you.
XoXo Enjoy! :)

REVIEW: Sugar & Spice 100% Organic Body Butter by Bubble & Bee Organics

Goal: To find a 100% USDA Certified Organic body lotion that smells girly and really moisturizes!
Brand I Tried: Bubble & Bee Organic.
Product: Sugar & Spice Body Butter (or Butta as it says on the label) LOL.
Product Description From Their Website: Gingerbread cookies, spiced eggnog, pumpkin pie...who doesn't love the delicious treats that come with the holiday season? We at Bubble and Bee love these sweet and spicy flavors so much, we whipped them up into this divinely warm, delectable body butter just in time for the holidays. Shea butter moisturizes deeply, delivering essential protecting lipids to the skin, while organic coconut oil with retained coconut meat keep this formula smooth but not greasy. Organic sweet almond oil softens and soothes skin, and macadamia nut oil protects and heals, while both oils deliver a bounty of essential fatty acids to your skin. Top that off with fragrant swirls of cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, ginger and brown sugar, and you've got an irresistible holiday treat for your skin. Unlike other body butters, ours is not water-based, so it has a different consistency than you might be used to. But that's a good thing--it is best described as having the consistency and feel of home-made frosting. Just pure, whipped, buttery goodness. Without feeling greasy, a little bit goes a really long way--that is, if you can resist reapplying it every 15 minutes because it smells and feels so good!
Ingredients: Organic shea butter, organic coconut oil with retained coconut meat, organic macadamia nut oil, organic almond oil, organic jojoba oil, organic olive and organic coconut oil infused with brown sugar and spices. That's it... No "Bad" Stuff! Product 100% USDA Certified Organic by UDAF.
  • Price: $16.95 / $24.95
  • Size: 4 oz. / 8oz.
  • Uses: Body Lotion.
  • Amount Of Product Used For It To Be Effective: Very little... it goes a long way! If it weren't so expensive, I'd definitely use a little bit more though.
  • First Impression: Smells like a mix between Vanilla Cake Frosting & Gingerbread Cookies - not a health food store! Yippie for not smelling like a Hippie!
  • Visual Attractiveness: Cute Packaging- but the label and I still aren't friends! The label is wrapped around the container (instead of a sticker), so you need to slide the container part of the way out to open and close the container. And, if you set it down- with the container open- it slides back up- and then you have to slide the label off again with "Butta Fingers" to close it... It drives me NUTS! I would love sticky labels like the salt scrub!
  • Texture: Just like home-made buttery cake frosting... Only greasy if you use too much (is that possible? You can NEVER get enough of B&B's Body Butter!) Described on their website: "may feel different from what you're used to feeling in a body butter.
  • Scent: Exactly like what you would imagine Sugar & Spice to smell like... like Thanksgiving and Christmas all wrapped up in one!
  • How Long I've Used It: I've been using B&B's Raspberry & Vanilla Body Butter for almost a year I think... I've been using this scent for the past week or two.
  • Easy To Find And Where? Bubble & Bee Organic, and some Whole Foods Market Stores.
  • Acquired: Sent to me by Stephanie @ Bubble & Bee Organics to Review.
  • Sample, Trial, Travel Sizes?: No. They are starting to carry sample sizes of many of their other products though, which is really nice to see! A sample set of all the Body Butters would be an awesome gift set for someone though!
  • EWG's Skin Deep - Cosmetic Safety Database Rating: 0! YAY!
  • The GG's Opinion: This made me feel like a kid at Christmas all over again... the scent is incredibly delicious!! If you follow me on here... you know all about my OBSESSION with B&B Organics Body Butter! I cannot tell you enough how much I love this stuff, I wish could buy it in bulk! Yes, it's a little on the steep side, but you are getting totally pure, organic ingredients! Here's how I make it last... I use this probably about 3-4 times per week- not everyday. I try to mix it up and use regular old organic oils like EVOO or Organic Coconut on the days in between. Honestly, my skin has really changed so much since I began using this, that I don't even need it everyday- even in the winter! This one also might be my new fave, beating out my all-time fave... the Raspberry & Vanilla Body Butter (see a Review here). Or my other new fave the Coconut & Lime! WHAT? LOL. More than the fact that it works better than anything else I've ever tried and that I could actually eat it if I wanted to... I LOVE that it's 100% USDA Certified Organic- especially since it's covering the largest organ on my body... my skin! It's Sweet & Sassy, Vegan, No-animal testing and Gluten-free! Thanks B&B for whipping up a few holiday batches (and not even making us gain a pound)! WE LOVE YOU! xoxo

EOTD: an oldfashioned Christmas

Today is my dad's birthday!!!! Congratulations dad, sorry I can't be there, but we'll see you soon in 2011! *sm00ch*

When I think of christmas, I tend to think of the oldfashioned colour: gold, red and green. Nowadays other colours will come to me, like silver and purple, but I wanted to do an 'oldfashioned' christmas look.

I used Gosh eyeshadowbase, because I was going to use loose powders and this way they would stick to my eyelid better.

I started with Sleek eyedust Vintage on my inner eyecorner. This is a beautifull golden colour, that has a hint of old gold to it. It also has a beautifull metallic sheen.

Then I applied some Sleek eyedust Eden, a gorgeous dark green with onc again that beautifull metallic sheen to it.

Then I took some Mac pigment Heritage Rouge, and applied that above my crease. It's a bit darker in truth than on cam, but it turned a bit more brighter after it was blended and after a few hours it was more a toned down red. As a highlighter I used a nude colour by 2True.

Then I applied some Essence glittereyeliner to make it a bit more darker. Since I dont have many eyelashes, and they are natural blondes, I  always like to have some dark in my eotds.

Below my eyes, I applied Gosh velvet touch eyeliners Golden Moss and Woody Green.
You know, I have some funny christmass earrings that would go perfect with this look. It has golden, red and green christmas balls on a little chain. LOL

Giveaway: the surprise product!

So in the giveaway blog I told you there would be surprise product. I intended it to be a Sleek original palette, but when I saw this one, I knew this had to be it!

It's the Limited Edition Sleek Sparkle palette !!!!

Okay, so this pic sucks, but it does show the amazing sparkle the palette has.

I don't have time to make better pictures or swatches, beacuse I have to go to work soon. (well, when I'm writing this that is). So I searched for some decent pictures online:
