Permanent Makeup For Thinning Eyebrows

October 2008

Last week ,I spent a few hours with Shauna Magrath, a certified micro-pigmentation artist. She and I worked together in the 90's on many films such as X files, Blade Trinity II, and The Glass Cockpit. She has applied makeup to many actors including, Hillary Duff, Meg Ryan, Gillian Anderson, Dominic Purcell, Jensen Ackels and David Duchovny.
Shauna has expanded her talents to the real world, and has set up a makeup service boutique called the Beauty Ink Gallery in the South Granville Lofts in Vancouver, for Micro-Pigmentation or otherwise known as Permanent Tattoo Makeup. This service provides women and men, with the option of having there eyes, brows, lips permanently enhanced. Shauna uses only Organic and Inorganic pigment colors, that last 5 - 10 years. There is no Iron Oxide in her colors, so there is less chance for the color to change with time. The color will fade if it is continually exposed to the sun. Colors that are made with iron oxide will eventually change from black to blue, otherwise known as blue brows.
I let Shauna fill and reshape my thin, short eyebrows with a pigment color (that she custom mixed), to a light, warm brown. My brows look fantastic!
The idea of Permanent Tattoo Makeup, Micro-Pigmentation, is to enhance your facial features, not to make your face look like it has a lot of makeup on.
No Drag Queen Looks! Please!
Corrective makeup can be done as well. Stretch marks can be diminished and white sun spots can be filled in. Women that have gone thru breast surgery, can have a new areola tattooed on. This is definitely the new wave of makeup for the busy mom, the full time career woman, or for those who have aging eyesight.

Many celebrities have Permanent Tattoo Makeup: Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears, Drew Barrymore, Victoria Beckham, Jessica Alba, Halle Barry, Beyonce, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Keifer Sutherland, Robert Downey Jr., Bruce Willis.

Perfume:The Story of a Murderer

Perfume:The Story of a Murderer
I recently watch the movie Perfume: The Story of a Murderer aired on cable TV. I was really fascinated how this film brought the best selling novel to screen. But I may say that the movie isn’t as good as the book which is mostly the case.

This story set in 18th century France where a boy named Jean-Baptiste Grenouille created a very powerful perfume; presumably pheromones . So powerful that his creation can manipulate human emotions.

During his time he was considered as a “freak” since he lack body odor or simply he has no personal smell, but in our times we call him “the man”. He also has an extra ordinary gift of smell. He has the uncanny ability for discerning the individual smells of everything around him.

His obsession to preserve the perfect scent started when he smell what he called a divine scent. He followed that scent and was surprised to know that it came from a young woman. He killed her to get a better smell of her scent. But after death the scent ceases.

Grenouille then began his apprenticeship with the great perfumer Baldini and have mastered the art of perfumery. Still not satisfied with what he learned he started his journey in quest to isolate and preserve the perfect scents.

Laure perfume
Upon his journey to Grasse, Grenouille once again entranced by the scent of a young beautiful woman named Laure. He then committed series of murder. He murdered women, cropped their heads and extracting their natural scents leaving them lifeless and naked. He successfully killed Laure and captures her scent as his last and main ingredient for his master piece.

He was then captured and sentenced to death. Before his execution, he damp little of his perfume that overwhelms the crowd. As if they were under a spell. In the movie, the executioner even kneeled before him and said that he is innocent. So powerful, his creation even caused a massive orgy among the towns people who was supposed to watch his fatal death.

Grenouille still not satisfied with his life since he is not loved for who he is but rather he is accepted and loved because of his creation. He then returned to his birth place in Paris where he approaches a group of low life people. He poured and emptied his perfume unto himself. The people turn to him with great desire. They tear him to pieces and devour his remains. It was a shocking and disgusting ending.

Anything that is too much is said to be bad. So, when drinking your beer you have to drink moderately. Same thing with perfumes, apply moderately :)

If you have a powerful perfume that could manipulate human emotions, what would you do?

Smells like Money

smells like money
Smelling and sniffing perfumes alone could turn you into a millionaire! It sounds easy as it seems but bear in mind that this is not for everybody. If you have the skills and the talent to identify 2,000 smells then you could climb the ladder of success and be the next millionaire.

There are only about 1,000 people worldwide who can put fragrances together with the power of their nose, and many of them have six-figure salaries. These men and women are well-trained to perfection for they have spent three years as a trainee perfumer and by the end of which they must be able to identify 2,000 ingredients by smell alone. After being a trainee perfumer, they also spent another four years as an apprentice.

Laura Tonatto
Laura Tonatto Her perfumes include Mediteranneo for Carthusia, Oltre, E. Duse, and Aqua Admirabilis

Being a perfumer is not easy but I didn’t say it’s impossible. It takes a lot of discipline, time, knowledge and proper training to create a fragrance that has a unique soul and character that appeals to most people. But no matter what it takes for you to become a successful perfumer the most important tool that you should equip yourself with is your intuition and your nose.
